Our government spent 2022 working on issues that people care about. What has been most important to you? Select up to five.

Changing how we fund doctors so they can provide more care to more patients, while helping recruit new doctors to BC. Ensuring our economic recovery is the strongest in Canada, with high jobs numbers. Expanding $10 a day childcare spaces and doubling the amount available this month. Announcing a $100 credit for residential BC Hydro ratepayers. Announcing a new housing plan with three actions to create more homes, faster, by removing strata restrictions on rentals to turn empty units into homes, removing strata age restrictions (except 55+ communities), and working with municipalities to set housing targets. Creating safer communities through stronger enforcement, intervention services, and expanding mental health crisis response teams. Turning 20,000 empty properties into homes for British Columbians through the speculation and vacancy tax, and expanding the tax to other communities struggling with housing. Capping food delivery fees to support restaurants while protecting delivery driver wages. Building 30 new playgrounds in 24 school districts, on top of the 231 playgrounds already built so students have a safe place to play at school. Building 2,500 public electric vehicle charging stations across BC and offering rebates to drivers looking to purchase electric cars to make it easier for people to choose zero-emission vehicles. Investing $2.1 billion in making sure that BC’s communities, roads and infrastructure are built back better and are more resilient after the extensive damage during the 2021 atmospheric river events. Creating new protections for home buyers by introducing a cooling off period so that people have time to make sure they’re making the right decision, and to make sure home buying is more transparent, less risky, and more fair. Investing $1 billion in CleanBC to fight climate change, decarbonize our economy, and make clean energy and transportation affordable. Working on our plan to phase out single use plastics, while making it easier for people to recycle products they use every day, like milk and milk-substitute containers out of landfills. Asking Ottawa to stop the criminalization of simple possession by removing it from the criminal code. Raising the minimum wage to $15.65 earlier this year — the highest out of all the provinces.

Is there something else our government has done that has made an impact on your or your family?

Healthcare is a top priority for our government, and we’re undoing years of BC Liberal neglect. There’s still work to be done, but how would you rate the work being done to fix healthcare?

We’ve doubled the amount of $10 a day childcare spaces available in our province since April. Plus, we’ve provided subsidies for up to 96,000 children in BC. Has affordable childcare made a difference for your family?

During David’s swearing in, he announced two affordability initiatives: a $100 credit for all BC Hydro residential ratepayers and the BC Affordability Credit for lower income families. Will this help you or your family?

Our new premier has announced a plan to quickly create new housing by removing strata rental restrictions in order to turn empty units into homes and removing age restrictions from stratas so young families have more options, while working with municipalities to set targets to deliver more homes.
