Gas, groceries, rent. Everything costs more, and nobody can afford another bill going up.
David Eby cleaned up ICBC and cut car insurance rates, saving the average driver about $500 a year. Rates have been frozen for seven straight years, while premiums in Alberta have jumped 65%. Now Eby will freeze rates for three more years.
The interim Conservative leader has told trial lawyers and private insurers that “everything’s on the table, including opening auto insurance to private competition.” In Alberta, drivers pay twice as much under that system.
On October 24, the choice is clear: frozen rates, or a bill that doubles.
