Support David Eby’s plan to triple US health worker recruitment

American doctors and nurses are choosing British Columbia. Over 800 of them have accepted jobs in our public system, because here they see a system that reflects their values and puts patients first, not one where fighting insurance companies bankrupts half a million Americans a year.

David Eby will triple that recruitment campaign. It will expand into red states where doctors and nurses face laws restricting the reproductive care they can provide, and it will bring Canadians working in American health care home with loan forgiveness and help with moving costs. Recruiters will focus on cancer care, emergency departments and rural communities.

The conservative parties would cancel it. They called the campaign "an irresponsible, reckless, idiotic, waste of money," and their own MLA admitted health care would "take the brunt" of their cuts. Instead of health workers, they'd import American private health care, putting at risk the very thing attracting these doctors here.

There's a lot more work needed to get everyone the care they deserve. That's the choice on October 24, and we can't afford to stop now.
