Protect BC’s Grizzly Bears
Don't let John Rustad bring back the trophy hunt.
For tens of thousands of visitors who come to BC, seeing grizzlies in the wild is an incredible experience. And for our province’s tourism operators, it's also a lucrative opportunity: grizzly bear viewing creates 50 times more jobs and generates millions more in revenue than trophy hunting. More than 75 companies — including First Nations-owned and operated ones — offer visitors a chance to see these magnificent beasts in BC.
But when our BC NDP government banned the trophy hunt, BC Conservative leader John Rustad disagreed with the vast majority of British Columbians who support it.
He said banning grizzly bear trophy hunting was “sad” and that trophy hunting should be allowed because, “they do this even with the [critically endangered] black rhino in Africa and other species around the world.”
Let’s tell John Rustad: BC’s grizzly bears aren’t trophies to hang on walls. We should protect the bears and keep the ban.
